Bachelor of General Studies Area of Concentration

International Studies

The Division of Continuing Studies offers the Bachelor of General Studies degree with an area of concentration in international studies.

Required:

Students with an area of concentration in international studies must take six semesters of one foreign language or four semesters each of two separate foreign languages. International students may be exempt from this requirement if English is not their first language.

Designated courses from a list available from advisers.

At least 9 hours must be upper division

Additional Information:

The social science requirement can be met by taking the specifically required courses for the international studies area of concentration.

Required courses INST 2130 and INST 4140 are offered only during the day and on campus.

Career Information:
An area of concentration in international studies provides a substantial foundation for professional careers in international business and commerce, secondary school teaching, or government/non-profit service. The program also prepares students for graduate study in a variety of disciplines, including business, international management, public administration, political science, and law. Students with a degree in international studies may find careers in real estate, management, marketing, international relations, government or nonprofit organizations, education, language interpretation/translation, journalism, research, trade, foreign service, and economics.
