Career Information:
An area of concentration in economics is concerned with how resources are allocated in production, prices are determined, incomes are distributed, and growth occurs. It will also provide the necessary knowledge to pursue an advanced degree, if desired. Economists examine such issues as how fiscal and monetary policies affect price and employment, the composition of the labor force, the effects of government regulations on the price, quantity, and quality of goods and services, and costs and benefits of environmental policies. Economics students may find careers in government or non-profit administration, urban planning, banking, education, economic research, real estate, insurance, business management, human resources, unions, law, international corporations, forecasting, and budgeting.
