Bachelor of General Studies Option I
General Requirements-45 hours
Includes nine hours of English composition and writing, Intermediate Algebra
or equivalent, three hours of public speaking, nine hours of natural and
physical sciences (one course with a lab), nine hours of humanities and
fine arts, and 12 hours of social and behavioral sciences. You can open

Area of Study-Minimum of 30 hours
The required hours may come from one department, or you may use 21 or
more credits in an area with up to nine in one allied field. Nine of the
total hours must be in UNO upper division courses.
Secondary Field #1-12 hours
Secondary Field #2-12 hours
Each secondary field must be pure, that is, all 12 credits must be from
the same discipline. Your area of concentration may not be used as a secondary
field. However, the allied field (if any) may be used. A secondary field
can lead to a minor.
Electives-26 hours
Electives may include any excess credit in general education, concentration
or secondary fields.
Cultural Diversity--6 hours
Six hours of cultural diversity course work must be included in your total
hours. Cultural diversity requirements include three hours in U.S. racial
or Hispanic minority groups and three hours gender or foreign focus.
